John N. Oswalt

About the Author
John Oswalt holds a B.D. from Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky., and a Ph.D. in Mediterranean Studies from Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass. He served on the faculty of Asbury Theological Seminary for over 20 years, most recently as Professor of Old Testament and Semitic Languages. In the fall of 1999 he began a new assignment at Wesley Biblical Seminary, Jackson, Miss., as Research Professor of Old Testament.

Dr. Oswalt was a member of the New International Version translation team, and is a member of the editorial team revising the Living Bible. He served as consulting editor for the New International Dictionary of 0ld Testament Theology and Exegesis (Zondervan, 1997). His writings have appeared in Bible encyclopedias and scholarly journals, and he has written several books, including a two-volume commentary on Isaiah in the New International Commentary.
